VIRGINIA G. YOUNG OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD

ABOUT THE AWARD

MLA and the MLA Trustees and Friends Council awarded Virginia G. Young the inaugural Outstanding Service Award in 1994 and named it in her honor. Mrs. Young served on the board of the Daniel Boone Regional Library for fifty years, authored the book The Library Trustee, and was awarded honorary lifetime membership in MLA. In 2000, Mrs. Young was named the American Library Association's National Advocacy Honor Roll. The Virginia G. Young Outstanding Service Award recognizes an individual trustee for exemplary service to libraries in Missouri. The service must benefit libraries in Missouri, but the individual need not be a Missourian.
