Everybody Serves Youth, Even You
CRST and YASIG have joined forces to present this program. Grab your boss,
your coworkers and join us for a program about the importance of serving
library youth.
Noon
YASIG Author Luncheon
Accomplished YA Author, Ellen Wittlinger has a knack for revealing the
hearts and minds of the teens who populate her books. Several of her
novels have made the ALA Best Books for Young Adults. Enjoy good food,
friends and an amazing author. To get excited (is that even necessary?!?),
take a peak at Wittlinger’s web site: http://www.ellenwittlinger.com/.
Did you know that Wittlinger is a former children’s librarian?
1:45 – 2:30 pm
Table Talk: Teen Spaces
This session should be particularly appealing to libraries who want to
increase usage by teen patrons by creating teen-inspired spaces on a
budget. Featured will be the completed works of winners of Missouri State
Library Grants that were provided to assist in the creation or redesign of
spaces with and emphasis on teen appeal.
2:45 – 3:30 pm
Poster Session: How do I find BEST books for young adults?
YALSA’s Best Books for Young Adults lists will be highlighted as well as
other YALSA lists, list-servs and popular young adult author blogs so
library workers serving young can tap into the best of the best when it
comes to YA books! Print and electronic resources that provide library
workers with booktalks and discussion guides will also be presented.
Friday Oct. 5th
