Mission Statement

The mission of the Reference and Information Services Special Interest Group (RISSIG) shall be to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of reference and information services in all types of libraries.

RISSIG Goals for 2010

1. Explore one or two new methods to connect to RISSIG members virtually; possibilities include Facebook and LinkedIn (supports MLA Vision #1)
   
   
2. Conduct a statewide survey of the state of reference service in Missouri public libraries, specifically comparing the use of government documents and referral to government services versus commercial resources in libraries serving communities of at least 10,000 residents.. (supports MLA Vision #'s 1 and 3).
   
   
3. Recruit useful, exciting and cutting edge programming for the 2010 annual conference (supports MLA Vision #1)
   
   
   
4. Investigate the feasibility of merging with the Government Documents Special Interest Group.
   
   
5. Continue to increase membership in and awareness of RISSIG.
