Mission Statement

The mission of the Reference and Information Services Special Interest Group (RISSIG) shall be to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of reference and information services in all types of libraries.

RISSIG Goals for 2009
 

1. Create a SIG wiki and foster an effective team environment (supports MLA Vision #1)
2. Conduct a statewide survey of the state of reference services in Missouri, with results to be presented at the 2009 annual conference and subsequently published in a refereed journal. (supports MLA Vision #'s 1 and 3)
3. Recruit useful, exciting and cutting edge programming for the 2009 annual conference (supports MLA Vision #1)
4. Review past activity and consider future direction of the MLARA_L listserv
5. Continue to increase membership in and awareness of RISSIG.

MLARA-L
 
MLARA-L is an open list for book discussion and Reader’s Advisory techniques. The list is sponsored by the Reference and Information Services Special Interest Group (RISSIG) and the Missouri Library Association (MLA). Subscribers are invited to discuss issues related to Reader’s Advisory and the promotion of reading in the library. It is also an opportunity for subscribers to connect with other Reader’s Advisory professionals in Missouri to keep current with reading trends and activities going on in the state.
