  1. I am trying to renew my membership but cannot remember my password and also cannot remember which “favorite” author I listed — quite a dilemma. I’ve tried numerous and I’m probably locked out now. Please help.

    • Hi Waheeda! We who run are not the same people who run, which is the member-database part. Amigos contracts with MLA to run that. I would suggest writing to with questions related to the mechanics of membership renewal.

  2. I am interested in becoming a member of the Missouri Library Association. I am not sure which category I should sign up under. I am not associated with a library at this time but I am a published author who loves the resources that are available from the larger libraries in Missouri and would love to learn more about bringing some of those resources to our small libraries in southern Missouri where I live. My daughter is a librarian in the state of Texas, and a published author. We both have years of experience in public speaking and successful presentations, and we have an idea we would love to present that goes with your theme “Libraries Without Borders” which we would like to submit before your April 15th deadline. Is there a place for me in your membership categories?

  3. Linda,

Welcome to MLA! There is a place for you. Look under individual memberships and you will find Trustee/Friend/Citizen. That would fit you. The call for proposals has been extended until Friday, May 15th. You can still apply. We look forward to meeting you.

  4. I’m interested in becoming an MLA member, but I had a question regarding dues. For dues based on library employee pay range, is that considering only the employee’s salary at their library, or their cumulative salary? I work for Mid-Continent Public Library in Kansas City, and am trying to determine dues based on my employment. Thank you!

  5. If you are already a MLA member but do not remember when you need to renew where can I find that information? Thank you!

    • Hi Adrienne, MLA memberships run January to December each calendar year. You can renew your membership right now by following the links above. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance. –Amy Nickless, Web Subcommittee.

  6. I am a retired elementary/middle school counselor. My daughter is a child librarian in Fairfax County, Virginia. I would like to advocate for libraries and attend Advocacy Day. I would like to attend with a retired professor. How would we register?

  8. Hello,

On my membership profile, it says I have been a member since 2018. That is not correct. I have been a member since 2008.

    Thank you,

    Emmett Blair Pickard

    • Dear Emmett,

Which page is this displaying on? If it is your membership page for MLA, this is probably an Amigos issue, if this is a page on the MLA website, please let me know which page and I will update it.

      Shelly (MLA Webmaster)
