Congratulations to Sandy Anderson!

YouthAwardWinnerThe Youth Services Community of Interest (YSCI) would like to congratulate Sandy Anderson, Early Literacy Coordinator for St Louis County Library, as the 2016 Show Me Youth Services Award recipient. The Show Me Youth Services Award is sponsored by YSCI and recognizes a library employee, Friend, or Trustee who serves and/or advocates for children or young adults and who demonstrates notable and outstanding performance in planning, developing, and promoting programs, services, collections, reading activities OR advocating for children and/or teenagers in their libraries and communities.

Sandy is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating creative early literacy programs for children up to age five and provides support to the Youth Services staff at all 20 SLCL branches. Her background in teaching early childhood education made her an ideal candidate for SLCL’s first ever Early Literacy Coordinator.

Sandy also manages several projects for the SLCL. Some of the projects she coordinates include Born to Read, Kindergarten Prep, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Recycled Reads, Every Child Ready to Read Workshops, and even a professional development class for SLCL staff.

YSCI wishes to thank all of our applicants and applauds the inspiring work you do on behalf of Missouri’s youth!
