Missouri Library Association Conference

Changing Faces/

 Enduring Values

 October 2 - 4, 2002

Downtown Marriott, Kansas City

2002 Conference Theme
The Theme for the 2002 MLA Annual Conference will be Changing Faces/Enduring Values. The conference,  to be held October 2-4th 2002, in Kansas City will reflect the commitment Missouri Librarian have to serving new populations. In addition to the new immigrants and non-speakers of English, the 21st Century Missouri librarian is encountering many new patrons and ways to serve them. Included in this group are the growing populations of teenagers and senior citizens, home-schooled students, non traditional college students and even the library patron we don't speak to or see but serve via the Internet.

Program ideas are now being accepted. Questions about possible programs can be addressed to Conference Coordinator Joel Jones of the Kansas City Public Library or MLA Executive Director Jean Ann McCartney.

Program Planners
we have new online forms to make planning easier. Forms are available in Html, Microsoft Word and PDF formats. Html forms work for anybody, Microsoft Word and PDF formats make neater printed copies if you have the software on your computer.

Dear Exhibitor:

On behalf of the Missouri Library Association, I invite you to exhibit at our 102nd Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown Hotel, October 2-4, 2002. Exhibits will open at noon on October 2 and close at 2:00 p.m. on October 3. "Changing Faces/Enduring Values" is this year's conference theme. Another Bohley Scholarship Benefit Golf Tournament is being planned for October 1 at a Kansas City golf course.

The exhibit fee is $425 due and payable with the application. Each exhibit booth will be 8' x 8', with an 8' back panel and 3' side dividers, and will include an identification sign with company name and booth number. The exhibit area is in the beautiful Meulhbach Tower of the Marriott; exhibits will be located adjacent to the general meeting, banquet, and break out rooms.

The conference schedule is arranged to draw attendees to the exhibits. The Grand Opening of the exhibits will take place at 12 Noon on October 2. We shall continue our tradition of hosting two social events in the exhibit hall area. We will again have several periods of "exhibit only" time printed in the conference program. We will also hold several events in the exhibit hall: a prize drawing, recognition of the winner of the friendliest booth award, and a silent auction to benefit the Ronald Bohley Scholarship Fund.

Again this year, MLA will be able to provide Internet access through a high-speed data connection. Your booth will connect via 10baseT ethernet, and an RJ45 jack will be placed in your booth for the entire conference for only $100. A minimum of six booths must sign up for this service before July 31, 2002.

Enclosed are an application/contract for exhibit space, an exhibit area floor plan, and further descriptive materials. I look forward to your exhibiting with us this year! Check out our new Internet site - www.molib.org - for Corporate Membership information. Corporate members of MLA will be acknowledged in the Conference Program and will receive preference in exhibit booth assignment. For

additional information: telephone: 573-449-4627; fax: 573-449-4655; e-mail: jmccartn@mail.more.net.
