  • Reference/Instruction Librarian

    Missouri Southern State College seeks an innovative and energetic professional to provide reference/instruction services in both print and electronic formats.

    Responsibilities: Develop and teach general and subject specific library instruction sessions and workshops, working with other public service librarians. Coordinate library instruction on campus and with outside groups. Create and maintain handouts and bibliographies on library resources. Assist in the evaluation and selection of print and electronic information sources. Provide evening and weekend reference assistance on a rotational basis.     POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER (LRC)
    POSITION DESCRIPTION The director administers all functions and services of the campus library, including strategic planning, policy development, staffing, budget oversight, collections maintenance and development, and maintenance of the library's electronic information environment including the library web page. Other job duties include reference, on-line and original cataloguing; circulation management including interlibrary loan; state and federal reports; and instruction in the use of library resources. The Crowder LRC serves over 3,000 students annually as well as a diverse group of faculty, staff, and community citizens. The LRC is fully automated with an on-line catalog/circulation system, CD-ROM reference tools, and access to the Internet and remote databases.     COLLEGE DESCRIPTION Crowder College is a comprehensive community college serving a nine-county region of Southwest Missouri. Crowder provides Associate of Arts and Applied Science Degree programs, technical certificate programs, customized training programs, and continuing and community education programs.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Master's in Library Science, a minimum of two years of library experience, and strong computer skills. Knowledge of collection development, library services, information databases and resources, OCLC, and library automation systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Supervisory experience preferred.

    SALARY RANGE Salary Range is $33,107 to $37,015 based on education and experience, plus excellent fringe AND FRINGES benefit package including Missouri Public School Retirement, employer-paid medical and life insurance, paid holidays, sick leave, and a
