QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate library degree from an ALA accredited institution. Strong commitment to high quality public service; strong problem-solving skills including initiative, flexibility, and creativity. Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Strong service orientation and commitment to continuous learning. Analytical skills to effectively retrieve information and assist patrons with information retrieval; flexibility to work in an environment of continual change; ability to work in teams and independently as well as with all levels of staff and diverse library customers; strong computer knowledge including skill in the use and application of multimedia software; initiative and ability to conceive and carry out projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers library services for the College. Coordinates with faculty and staff to provide library materials. Directs activities and supervises the staff of instructional resources, ensuring efficient and productive operations. Develops the library collection and promotes utilization of library programs of the College. Performs normal supervisory functions: trains, instructs, assigns work to departmental personnel, recommends transfers, promotions, wage increases, terminations, arranges for additional help or need for overtime; explains and enforces college policies, safety rules and regulations; evaluate performance. Works toward Mineral Area College's goal of providing resources to our community.

Overview
Under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for identifying, planning, organizing, executing and evaluating an effective program of library service to the citizens of Greene County.
Essential Functions
The Director shall:
Be the chief executive officer of the library district.
Be responsible for the execution of orders and policies adopted and promulgated by the Board of Trustees and those prescribed by Missouri State Statute.
Act as technical advisor to the Board; recommend needed policies for Board action.
Have complete authority to hire employees for all positions authorized by the Board and supervise their work.
Help to develop short-term and long-range plans relative to all areas of the system.
Provide expertise and direction in all area, especially those including: finances, expansion, staff development, professional service and public relations.
Perform other duties as the Board may direct from time to time.
Education/Experience
MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution.

Responsibilities
Directs and administers the library system and programs.

Works closely with other branch personnel and branch managers.

Participates in professional library organizations.

Supervised by the Library Board of Trustees.
