The MLA's Intellectual Freedom Committee sent a letter today to the Nixa School Board because of their ban to Fun Home and All Boys Aren’t Blue and their restriction of Homecoming. molib.org/letter-to-the-nixa-school-board-june-17-2022/Please share with anyone you know in the community, as well as the information below on how to speak at the Board meetings, etc. Continue to submit challenge reports to the ALA so we can keep national networks posted about what's going on in Missouri. (www.ala.org/tools/challengesupport/report) Nixa School Board Meetings and Policies(go.boarddocs.com/mo/nixa/Board.nsf/Public)The regular monthly meetings of the Nixa Board of Education are tentatively scheduled for the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Faught Administration Center Community Room, 301 South Main Street, Nixa.Next meeting: June 28, 2022Board emails: (www.nixapublicschools.net/domain/1590)Policy BDDH-1: Public Participation at Board MeetingsA specifically designated time will be set aside for public comments at regular meetings of the Board of Education. The following rules will be applied to the public comment portion of the meeting:1. The Board will establish a time limit for the public comment period.2. No individual will be permitted to speak more than once during this period.3. The Board will establish a uniform time limit for each speaker.4. Only items from the posted agenda may be discussed.Any member of the public who wishes to have an item placed on the agenda will present the request in writing to the superintendent or designee.
